Živogošće consists of five areas. Three of these are located on just 7 km of the coast, Porat, Mala Duba and Blato and older stone houses in Strnj and Murava are only about 1 km away from the coast, under the proud mountain Biokovo.

Živogošće is named after the inhabitants from an ancient time when the Illyrian and Romans lived there, and their habits and traditions have remained to this day with diligent, hardworking and friendly people like the fishermen and artisans. More and more people love to visit the sunny and beautiful pebbled beaches, which are easily found as you drive along the Adriatic highway (completed in 1965) and now after 50 years of tourism gets busier, year-by-year. To accommodate visitors Živogošće offers high quality accommodation in apartments, rooms, family homes, comfortable and luxurious hotels, villas and camps with a capacity up to 4600 visitors daily during July and August, along the 7 km of beautiful natural beaches and coastline. The rich history of Živogošće, is enhanced by the remains of many "villa rustica" and the Roman inscription "Pokrivenice" from 474 BC which is carved into a living rock above the spring still flowing there.

Then, and with today's natural beauty, Živogošće is an ideal place to relax with families and friends. Walks or bike rides along the sea promenade and walks on the mountain slope along the marked hiking trails are always free and available to all who love nature and its desire to live in harmony.
